Youth Donor Club Training Workshop & Camp 2009
Since 2005, the Singapore Youth Donor Club (YDC) has been conducting an annual 4-day training camp which serves as an avenue to provide youth donors with a better view of the National Blood Programme; to know and learn about the importance of blood donation in saving lives; and to introduce the activities of YDC where youths can find volunteer opportunities to serve the blood programme. The 4th camp held in Dec last year was opened to youth clubs in the SE Asian region. A total of 76 youths participated in this training camp. 23 were from countries such as Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Pakistan and 53 from Singapore. The feedback obtained was very positive and for the continuation of this platform so that youth donors and youth leaders from various countries can learn from one another and continue to network via cyberspace. To help facilitate this, the Singapore YDC will henceforth open the training camp to include participations from youths in this region.
